1 DAY HIKE IN TORRES DEL PAINE: THE FERRIER LOOKOUT TREK

1 DAY HIKE IN TORRES DEL PAINE: THE FERRIER LOOKOUT TREK

The Ferrier lookout trek will for always be in my memory as a mental and physical challenge that I proudly accomplished. Not because it’s difficult. It’s a hill and it takes approximate 4 hours to do: 2 hours up and 2 hours down. But I managed to get up – alone, running, sweating, cursing and with a high pulse – in 1 hour and 10 minutes! All the way up switching between thinking “the view better be worth it” and “please, give me a sign that I’m there soon”. I did it. and it was worth it. WARM UP: THE CONDOR LOOKOUT We started out doing the short hike Mirador condor / Condor lookout close to[…]

Seno Obstrucción, Región de Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, Chile

1 DAY TRIP TO SENO OBSTRUCCION

Most people only go North from Puerto Natales to discover the national park Torres del Paine but there are so many other places to discover that are less known and less touristic. Instead of going north, go south from Puerto Natales. Take the beautiful road to Seno Obstrucción. Its actually another road to Punta Arenas they are building on, but it will take longer time to get there because its a gravel road. You will be driving along the coast most of the way and have a beautiful scenery on both sides of the road. On the way you will pass some ranches as well.    HOW TO GET TO SENO OBSTRUCCION Its[…]

CONFESSION OF A NOT-SO-PRETTY INSTAGRAM: WHY I DONT HAVE 50K FOLLOWERS

I got inspired to write this post after reading the great article of Samantha, the founder of “There she goes again” about the reality of Instagram and her take-on how she got thousand of followers on her Instagram profile during a short period of time.  We are both members of the same Facebook community for female travellers and one big struggle many of the members have is how to grow your goddamn Instagram profile. Samantha had some very interesting observations like  Is the pictures taken in a popular location like e.g. Paris? Are you a white, thin and an attractive female? Do you have a cute style? Then its – sorry to say – a bit easier[…]

THINGS TO DO IN PUNTA ARENAS IN 3 DAYS – OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES

Punta Arenas is the capital city of Chile’s southernmost region, Magallanes and Antartica Chilean and placed 250km/155miles south from Puerto Natales. Most people take the plane to Punta Arenas, stay one night and then go to Puerto Natales to visit Torres del Paine national park. But if you did go all the way to Patagonia to enjoy the nature and wildlife you should stay some more days in Punta Arenas because this city actually has some very cool things to do and see – you just need to go a little bit outside the city. This was our first (out of many) honeymoon as married couple – and we spend it exploring Punta Arenas[…]

THE GUIDE RECOMMENDS: WHAT TO PUT IN YOUR BACKPACK TO HIT TORRES DEL PAINE

“THE GUIDE RECOMMENDS” was an idea Victor and I got because we often talk about our future outdoor adventures and he helps me understand this “world” of trekking, mountaineering and outdoor life since I haven’t much experience (yet!!). Victor has 14 years of experience as outdoor guide and is currently working as guide in Torres del Paine National park and this article is meant to help people who are going for multiple days in the park.   “WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?” PREPAIR YOURSELF FOR ALL KIND OF WEATHER Number one concern of travellers is always the weather. They try to predict how its gonna be before arriving but in Patagonia its[…]

This year CONAF took the consequences of this and made some regulations to control the amount of people in the lodges, camping and refugios. For you as a visitor it means that you need to plan your trip well before entering the park if you are[…]
